Miguel Falcón

Managing Director – Gráficas Salnés

First of all, for those who don’t know you, we’d like you to tell us a bit about who Miguel Falcón is.

I started working at a very young age, in the hospitality sector, specifically with the Hoteles La Toja group, in the Audit Department. However, I’ve always had a strong interest in design, which led me to take a screen printing course around 1980. That was the beginning of my first workshop, where I printed t-shirts, stickers… Little by little, clients started asking for more traditional graphic products—envelopes, business cards, invoices—and I realized that my future would also be closely tied to printing.

What is the history and evolution of Gráficas Salnés? What was its founding goal?

Gráficas Salnés was born in 1983, after some frustrating experiences with suppliers who couldn’t deliver the business cards, envelopes, etc. that my clients asked for. So I decided to partner with someone and open our own print shop. We started in my mother’s sewing workshop, an 80-square-meter space, and from there we grew: first to a 700-square-meter warehouse in Cambados (Galicia, Spain), then to a 2,000-square-meter facility in Vilariño, and finally to our current plant, on a 7,200-square-meter plot, always within the municipality of Cambados.

From the beginning, our goal was to differentiate ourselves by offering something beyond what small print shops in the area were doing. We introduced offset printing in the region, focused on quality, innovation, and above all, customer satisfaction.

How would you define your role at Gráficas Salnés? How has it evolved within the company?

I’ve never liked talking about myself—I’ve always preferred that people talk about Gráficas Salnés. But if I had to say something, I’d say I’ve always been passionate about business. I come from a family of small self-employed entrepreneurs and know firsthand the struggles and joys of starting something. My role has been to drive, create, and above all, keep the excitement of doing things well alive.

What milestones would you highlight in the history of Gráficas Salnés? What’s your next goal?

Two key moments were in the year 2000, when we focused on the wine sector with adhesive labels on reels, and in 2004, when we founded Salnés Pack to tackle packaging challenges in a more industrialized way. In 2018, we presented a sales pitch to a Galician family office, which believed in our project and acquired 100% of the company in 2020.

Now, with integration into Grupo Lantero, the goal is to ensure the project’s continuity with a solid, professional structure and a forward-looking vision. I’m convinced it was the right decision.

How would you evaluate these first few months within Grupo Lantero?

Expectations for this year are very positive, and everything indicates we’ll close out the year very successfully. The team is excited, and although there’s always uncertainty during changes, they see the potential of this new phase.

What do you think Gráficas Salnés can contribute to Grupo Lantero?

We are a highly flexible company, with great responsiveness to customer needs. Plus, we manufacture many products that weren’t previously in Grupo Lantero’s portfolio. I think we can bring significant value—especially to the sales departments and the premium segment.

What is the most relevant project you’re working on with Grupo Lantero?

We’re working on some beautiful projects, though many of them are under pseudonyms at the explicit request of the clients. It was something that surprised me at first, but now we understand and respect it. Some of these projects are tied to well-known brands, but due to confidentiality, we can’t reveal details. What I can say is—we’re very excited about what’s coming.
