We present the Non-Mineral Collection — a set of never-before-seen minerals: Madagascar Rose Quartz, Calcite from South African mines, Sulfur stone from some volcano… Not to ruin the glamour, but none of that is real. It’s actually a piece of misplaced cheese that’s been in the fridge for three days.
With this ironic nod to the changes food undergoes while stored in the fridge, Grupo Lantero launches ReKeepEat, a new packaging solution designed to preserve freshness for longer and reduce food waste. The solution consists of a 100% mono-material PET tray and lid, incorporating advanced resealing technology that allows the pack to be opened and closed without losing functionality.
ReKeepEat is a joint development by Coexpan and Emsur, both companies of Grupo Lantero, and was fully developed at Innotech, the group’s open and collaborative innovation center. The eco-design of this product follows a dual objective: “Every decision in the design of ReKeepEat is guided by a clear principle — to minimize material use and reduce environmental impact throughout the product’s life cycle, from manufacturing to recycling,” explains Walter Turci, R&D Director at Coexpan.
Both the tray and lid are made entirely of PET — an advantage that simplifies the recycling process by avoiding material mixing, improving recyclability and supporting the circular economy. Furthermore, PET enables the integration of recycled content in the manufacturing stream. The result? A simple experience for consumers and more environmentally efficient production and recycling processes.
One product, many solutions
Beyond its functionality, ReKeepEat stands out for its versatility: it is suitable for sliced meats, fresh cuts, or ready meals, whether vacuum-sealed or packaged in a modified atmosphere. Its design brings added convenience to consumers, allowing the use of family-friendly formats and making products easier to carry.
Its adaptable format also makes it an ideal solution for manufacturers, offering a packaging option that meets diverse market needs and opens up new business opportunities.
With ReKeepEat, Grupo Lantero strengthens its commitment to the circular economy and responsible innovation. Álvaro Bernard, Corporate Director of Innovation, Marketing, and Sustainability at Grupo Lantero, defines the product as “a tangible example of how innovation can drive sustainability and open new business opportunities. With this solution, we reinforce our commitment to more responsible packaging with real value for our clients.”
This packaging has won first prize in the Large Company category at the 5th Ecodesign Competition, organized by Fundación CONAMA — one of the most prominent events in its field. During the event, the jury praised its commitment to sustainability, high recyclability, and functional design as a milestone in the packaging sector.
It was also awarded at the 2025 Foodtech Innovation Awards as the best “Disruptive Solution in the Packaging Market” for its innovative approach. Additionally, ReKeepEat is a finalist in the 2025 Sustainability Awards by Packaging Europe, with winners to be announced this November in Utrecht.
